Next, you can use Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to learn to accept and embrace a slower pace. You can also get into a habit of saying an affirmation to bring you back to where you are in this time and space, if you feel yourself forcing things. Something like: I can learn to accept the pace at which my body wants to heal and choose to honor it.I can't really tell you what each of the approaches looks like on a typical day. What is a typical day anyway? ;) In addition, I don't believe they would have the same medical treatment plan as the energy that surrounds each treatment plan feels very different. However, I believe this might help. Gung-ho girl might employ several intense treatment plans at a time, forging ahead with each no matter how her body was reacting to it, obsessively researching about each to find out what typical results should be and holding herself to that expectation; generally just racing to the finish line, sticking to a plan she committed to despite anything that might arise. She set a goal and will push through anything to get there. Relaxed EFT girl might have a more gentle approach by trying only a couple of things at a time, listening to her body about what is working and what isn't, finding her own voice in the process and revising her treatment to meet whatever she feels at the time, not viewing every intense reaction as a reason to push even harder to get there faster. She would definitely hold a healing space for herself but while also letting the process happen, which means not judging her progress against others and not being overly attached to results and the timeline. Going with the flow and listening to her body and its pace would be key.Does that help?

Good question Ulana!

The first step is becoming aware if you are rushing things and how that might be potentially blocking some of your healing. If so, what's a better way to approach and implement a treatment plan?
I guess I'm looking for more specific examples. Something like
"on a typical day gung-ho girl does and thinks x, y, z. In contrast, relaxed eft girl with the same medical treatment plan does and thinks a, b, c."

Great post.

Can you help me understand how to get myself to be okay with a relaxed pace of healing when financial resources are limited?

Did you mean to imply that being serious and gung ho about a particular treatment plan is counter productive? She is a constant de-railer of anything I try and accomplish. She is skittish and worried. She shreds slippers, sweaters, chickens, recently planted garden beds. Her mode of operation is to pounce and jump on things like people, dogs, small animals, tables, dressers. She has tremendous energy and smarts and I worry that I will never be able to bond with her because I resent how much of my energy and time (which is limited) she takes away. I feel like we are conforming to her rather than the other way around. There are 4 other dogs and 2 people so it is out of balance. This all said she is lovable, and sweet to her people and is in constant play mode. She gets every dog she meets to play with her.

Shiva is our 16 month old pup from the streets of New Delhi. She'll be so sweet one minute and then feisty and biting us the next. We think it's because she was born feral, but with all our love and attention, we keep hoping she will calm down.

I love our cat Pinot but she has a biting problem. I just don't understand why they would ever ever ever want to leave the room and not take me with them. I beg them to come back but they keep telling me "I'm ok" but, I'm not ok, they leave me for several minutes at a time. AND, all night I'm by myself with nothing to do. Some nights i redecorate the office and bathroom with the toilet paper roll but then they laugh at me in the morning and ruin my masterpiece. I just don't understand why I don't get a treat for my efforts. And don't even get me started on that cousin of mine, Stella. Bark, bark bark. Play, play, play. Not interested. They tell me I have abandonment anxiety and they keep saying the words Sushi, no & down but I'm really not interested in what those mean. I think they are the ones who really need your help.
Maybe you can convince then to give me the attention I deserve.-Thanks,
