3 Simple Statements to Immediately Increase Positivity

I-will-affirmationYou all know, I’m not a huge fan of affirmations, unless of course — you already believe them to at least some extent while you’re saying them. Then they are super awesome. But, I do think incorporating positive language in your life can be a huge game changer. Ready for some emotional relief? Try incorporation these three terms into your day-to-day self-talk.

1. I will

Instead of “I have to,” “I might,” or “I wish,” use “I will.” It gives the body the message that we will succeed, will thrive, will get this thing done! It’s motivating and assuring all at the same time.

2. I can!

Every time you think of an “I can’t….,” try to think of the “I can” that goes with it. This is a positive shift and will really help you mentally. Instead of “I can’t do anything because I don’t feel good,” you can say “I can do something for at least 30 minutes (or 5 if that’s all you can swing)!”

3. I choose

This sends a big ol’ message of empowerment. It’s very hard for us to resist our own choice. I use this instead of “I have to….” even if I don’t actually choose the event or task, I do definitely choose how I deal with it. If you have something crappy to deal with, you can say “I choose to make this the least miserable it has to be for myself.” “I choose to do it and kick ass while I am.” Anything along those lines will work!
