The truth about forgiveness

You have to forgive yourself. You really do.

In my own journey, I found I needed to forgive myself more than anyone else.

Spiritual leaders often talk a lot about forgiveness but I personally think it’s ok to decide not to forgive people in your life that have hurt you (as long as you aren’t constantly festering over the hurts).

However, it IS essential you give yourself a freakin’ break for once and forgive yourself for what you might consider imperfections. Constantly self-criticizing yourself and berating yourself about every little thing takes a huge told on the body. And it’s just not worth it.

There are endless possibilities for mantras, but today I thought I would share one that seems super appropriate as Valentine’s Day approaches.

Ho’oponopono – This Hawaiian mantra means “I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you.”

How to use it: Place your hands over your heart and just repeat.

Next time you find yourself beating up on yourself, use the forgiveness mantra instead. Your body and heart will thank you.
